Gerber Technology to Demonstrate CAD and Cut Room Integration at Texprocess/Techtextil 2014
Occupying the largest booth at Texprocess/Techtextil 2014, Gerber Technology will demonstrate its ability to track work in process from order entry through the cutting room to help customers minimize human error and uphold brand quality. Integration occurs between the company’s AccuMark® 9.0pattern design and marking software, GERBERspeader™ XLs and Paragon® cutting system.
Steve Park, vice president and general manager of Gerber’s sewn goods business unit said, “Through its participation in Texprocess/Techtextil 2014, Gerber is proud to support the sewn products and technical textiles sectors in its home market. We constantly strive to offer our customers automation solutions that accelerate throughput, uphold product quality and maximize profitability and our newly integrated suite of software and hardware products accomplishes this in a meaningful way.”
Gerber’s integrated products communicate cut plan details via a standard barcode. Users create and edit cut plans in AccuMark 9.0. Details of the cut plan, including number of plies, spread length and mode, are passed to the spreader. After spreading, the plan is updated with actual number of plies spread. This information then travels to the Paragon cutter where the operator scans a barcode to retrieve the proper cut file.
After cutting the job, the Paragon system generates a report that details the number of parts cut and number of units cut, data the company refers to as “metrics that matter.” With this information, managers are able to compare the details of the job cut with the original cut plan and track work in progress more accurately. Gerber’s cutting systems are also equipped with GERBERconnect™ remote diagnostics that enables Gerber Service professionals to proactively detect and correct system faults, troubleshoot remotely, install software enhancements and offer assistance with system operation. It also enables Gerber consultants to help customers maximize throughput by analyzing key metrics and identifying improvement opportunities.
Ron Ellis, senior product manager for Gerber Technology will participate as one of four panelists discussingSynchronizing the Cutting Room through Cut Order Planning during the Texprocess Symposium on May 14 at 1:30 p.m.
The company will also showcase its newly launched Taurus™ II leather cutting system and YuniquePLM® product lifecycle management software. Taurus II employs nesting capabilities that are 250 times more powerful than previous offerings. When compared to manual or die cutting of leather, field tests have shown as much as 10 percent yield improvements. The system also maximizes throughput by capturing hide shape and flaw markings in seconds using a digital camera. YuniquePLM connects creative teams with manufacturing teams in a browser-based environment to help manage all of the details related to product design and manufacturing. Demonstrations will include powerful sourcing and vendor management capabilities, tools to track work in process and edit data en masse, and a design suite that is integrated with Adobe® Illustrator® and employs easy-to-use, drag-and-drop functionality.
Gerber Technology will also demonstrate its Mobile Design Suite in [TC]2's Cool Zone. The suite enables designers to capture their inspiration, in the form of paper patterns, using a touchscreen Microsoft® tablet. They can then use the tablet to convert patterns to digital AccuMark CAD patterns, and edit and upload them to the cloud – from anywhere in the world. With this mobile suite, they are able to share pattern designs instantly with colleagues and suppliers in any corner of the world and collaborate to develop the perfect design. The Mobile Design Suite requires no complicated networks or IT department involvement and is ideal for businesses of all sizes – from a one-person design shop to multinational brands.
Texprocess Americas takes place May 13-15, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. Visitors can witness Gerber Technology's products in action in stand 3041.
